It's the End and It's the Beginning

Description
A transparent plastic fire sculpture is on the ground in the middle of a white room lit up with a torch and pink/purple colors awash over and behind it on the wall.
Death has always been a topic people tend to avoid discussing. But we will face it eventually. I don't see death as the end of life but rather as a change in the mode of communication. As in the movie "Coco" where it's said, "The real death is that no one in the world remembers you." Any life can exist in our consciousness, but true death occurs when they are no longer remembered or mentioned. Therefore, accepting the death of loved ones can be understood as adapting to a new form of communication. In this artwork, I convey the concept that death is not the end of life by showcasing how I commemorate my loved ones, encouraging viewers to confront and accept death.

In this artwork, I created sculptures in the shape of fire and used a projector to display moving images onto them. The projections are cast onto sculptures made of transparent plastic material, with the sculptures' shadows projected onto the wall merging with the moving images from the projector, creating the illusion of burning. The sculptures represent the reality and the world of the living, while the moving images projected by the projector represent a virtual world - the world where the deceased exist in my consciousness. The combination of the two signifies that these two worlds can communicate and interact with each other.
